"Hopscotch ticked all the boxes for me when I was looking for a childcare setting for my daughter (who has now gone to school), my son (who is currently attending the nursey) and my youngest daughter (who will be attending in the new year). These boxes included excellent pastoral care, learning and development activities that would keep them stimulated and instil a lifelong joy of learning, the chance to meet and interact with peers their age (and who would attend the same reception class), and being prepared for the transition to school. In addition to meeting these key requirements, I have been very impressed by the organisation and communication skills of the manager and her team, the extra-curricular activities that are on offer (Sing and Sign classes, for example) and the fact that nutritious hot meals are served for lunch. My children have and do very much enjoy themselves a Hopscotch and come home full of news about their day and armed with a plethora of artistic items!"

My daughter attended the Hopscotch Nursery in Oxted for 2 years, whilst we were awaiting for a school place to be available. I had researched many nurseries within the local vicinity that would provide a high level of support to my child. The previous nursery my child attended, had struggled to cater for her needs so I had to ensure I chose a suitable one. I visited Hopscotch Nursery on an open day and met the proprietor, Anna and some of the staff. I was impressed by the warmth exuded and the knowledge they displayed, I felt they provided the type of learning style that would suit my child. After a tour of the facility, I knew this would be the most suitable nursery that would provide a nurturing environment that we were seeking.
At the time, the nursery’s ethos was ‘learning through play’ and we saw the immediate change in my child’s abilities and learning. Her behaviour improved immensely, and she has started to learn letters and numbers to a high standard. The staff were patient and very accommodating; they adapted their techniques to best match my child’s abilities. The staff to child ratio was good and the smaller, more cosy setting certainly made the children happy and bond with each other. There was an option to attend a weekly forest school, which allowed the children to detach from the classroom and experience a different aspect of learning. It is refreshing to see children who were reluctant to leave school at home time but that was the effect this nursery had on them.
I could not recommend Hopscotch Nursery highly enough and in my opinion, the smaller size would suit children who are shy or are not suited to a larger environment; where it was easy for a child to feel overwhelmed or neglected. The nursery has a fantastic team of SEND teachers who were very knowledgeable and experience in dealing with children with special needs. We always felt welcomed and had a place where we could always talk to and share ideas with. Anna has been outstanding for our child whom she assisted us through the EHCP with Surrey Council.
