As the autumn term gets underway at Hopscotch Nursery, we’d like to extend a very warm welcome to all of our new families who have joined us this term, and a lovely welcome back to all of our returning families. It has been wonderful to see everyone settling back into nursery life and embracing the new season together.

Exploring Autumn Through Creative Activities

We’ve been exploring the changing season through a range of creative and sensory activities. The children have enjoyed creating beautiful autumn wreaths using natural resources collected during our walks and from our very own nursery garden.



Sticks, leaves and acorns have provided wonderful opportunities for the children to explore different textures, colours and shapes while using their creativity to make something unique of their own.

Autumn-Inspired Sensory Play

Our sensory play has also taken on an autumnal theme, with the children enjoying a variety of seasonal sensory experiences.



We’ve been exploring colours, textures and natural materials, as well as enjoying a fun colour-changing sensory activity featuring autumn-themed images such as pumpkins. These hands-on activities encourage curiosity and exploration while giving the children plenty of opportunities to learn through play.

Bringing Stories to Life Through Play

We’ve also been bringing some of our favourite stories to life through play. Inspired by Ten Wriggly Wiggly Caterpillars, the children have been exploring the different foods from the story through sensory play.



These activities encourage conversation, imagination and communication while giving the children lots of lovely opportunities to make connections between the stories they enjoy and their own experiences.

Learning Through Play This Autumn

It has been a lovely start to the autumn term at Hopscotch Nursery, filled with creativity, curiosity and plenty of opportunities to explore, discover and learn through play.
